My gift to you all this Christmas is modern holiday savviness! I’ve taken the liberty to come up with a few terms and catchphrases to express yourself better this holiday season, and be all the rage at parties!
Examples are provided for the terms I thought might need clarification. Enjoy!
Orna-motions - The emotions you associate with different Christmas tree ornaments of the past
Frankin-sense - the smarts you use for finding the best deals on presents, leaving in time to avoid holiday traffic, and avoiding the use of credit at all costs
Cele-stration - the mixed feelings you have about tough holiday situations, such as bad traffic, sold out items, or having to use credit to purchase gifts
Bah humbucks - the money those misers in your life hoard and are reluctant to share, even at Christmas. (Ex: Ebenezer Scrooge, Mr. Potter)
In a sentence:
”I don’t need your bah humbucks!”
Whiny Tim/Cindy Boo Hoo - the ungrateful/bratty boys or girls for whom Christmas is just another chance to prove how spoiled they are.
Ghost of Christmas Last - the ex you were with during the holidays the previous year
Carry of the Smells - the amazing wafture that comes from things cooking and baking in the kitchen at Christmas time. (Kind of a stretch)
Gene-mosity - when being generous turns into a wild competition around Christmas.
Ex: Fighting over who gets the check.
In a sentence:
“Wow, you’re family seems really big on generosity…”
“Yeah, more like gene-MOSity.”
Aware of the Manger - A way to describe those who keep the Christ in Christmas.
Use these terms WHENEVER YOU POSSIBLY CAN this season to show how on top of the know you are! Impress friends and family with your wit and cleverness!
(For best results, make it seem like you came up with them on the spot!)
You’re welcome, and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!
Love,
Lacy Prince
